Slide show put to the version of Amazing Grace sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Here are the lyrics:

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun.

  • Amazing Grace has been one of my all time favorite hymns. However, I am abit taken back at how the lyrics are so drastically changed. Beautiful voices from the choir, but totally change the whole meaning of this beautiful hymn.

The first three verses are actually from the original version written by John Newton in 1779. They are verses 1, 4, and 5 in the original version. Verse 4 was written by an anonymous author and has been included in several different recordings. Many different verses have been added in different hymnals and recordings but there are 6 original verses attributed to Newton.

  • @artesano72 Yo siento el mismo, Jesu Cristo es mi salvador y redentor. Espero el dia en que puedo ver Su cara.

  • what are the Scots doing playing with the mormons

  • The LDS church is a worldwide church. There are actually more members of the church outside the U.S. than there are inside.

My mom is a Scottish Mormon.

  • As a Geman, Irish, Scott, American, Mormon, I love this hymn. It climbs deep into my heritage and lifts me to Christ, who is my eternal king.
