Though Jazz is my first love, I wanted to demonstrate JBL S312s bass extension. To do justice to this amazing speaker I couldnt think of any other track than Kraftwerk's Man Machine. Its not just a thumpy track but also flaunts good high and mid ranges.

In this clip I am using my Rega P3 sporting a RB 300 tone arm with the Elyse cartridge. Though the bass isnt very well captured by my iPhones microphone, you will notice the woofers vibrating enough to cause tremors even at lower volumes.

I dont think they make these S 312's anymore but I am sure any of JBLs speakers within the $2500-$5000 are a good buy. They are made in the US and like many other American speakers are well tempered for music with powerful bass. Their dynamic frequency responses will suite the ears of any rock and jazz music listeners.

  • Cool Set up! What Rotel amp do you have, the RB 1070 or RB 1090? And how loud do you usually play your music?

  • Mine is the RB 1070. I play my music reasonably loud.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • Hi, get yourself a good Level Meter. Take care with your ears measuring your listening sessions levels. Just a touch.
