I just read home front and I felt like she was telling my story, my fiance went to afghanistan for 1 year, he had to leave his 16 yo daugter with his sister (because we weren't married). We live in the pacific nw and have been to many of the places, in the book. This book truely gives the non military person a deeper understanding of what a deployment is like and how hard it is on a family, and for the military family.... get your tissue ready, you will cry, you will smile, you will love it...

I just read Home Front and it really did open my eyes on many levels. I am a mom and have a son who tried to get into the army a year ago this month but was discharged for reason unknown to me. When he told me that he had sign in my heart broke. Could not believe or understand why, fear and every feelings took over. After finishing reading this book, now I have a understanding of the "why" and I feel so bad inside that my son could not finish what he wanted the most, serving his country...
