LP Candidate Bruce Majors vs. D.C.'s One-Party System

"There are a lot of people in D.C. who are Democrats who probably don't really want to be," says D.C's Libertarian Party congressional candidate Bruce Majors, "but if you don't vote in the primaries then your vote in the election doesn't really count."

Majors surprised many this election by receiving 6% of the vote against longtime congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, guaranteeing the Libertarian Party major party status in the nation's capital.

Majors sat down with Reason TV's Nick Gillespie to discuss the election, D.C. politics, and why hitting the major party threshold is important for libertarians.

Those are lobbyist and corporations who mooch of off government handouts in the form of contracts to build things or work on projects we don't need.

The Republicans are staunch supporters of this corporate welfare.

You are so right, the taxpayers got a massive cut out of every DOE Title 17 loan program that went belly-up. You're not helping your case. I will also mention, the GOP House had a golden opportunity to pick some "low-hanging fruit" like that Title 17 program that spawned such successes like Solyndra & they failed. I was very disappointed.

The Democrats see it as "well if I'm going to get my goodies we should at least make sure the general public gets some table scraps".

The GOP is 100% pro corporate welfare while maintaining a rigid view when it comes to helping the needy.

In my opinion that makes them just a little bit more despicable than the Democrats, you're a libertarian so of course you don't see it that way, but that's fine with me.

"At least the Dems are more consistent." So you're saying they're more-consistent in voting for socialism & CAPITOLism? That doesn't sound like a strong argument to me. Yeah, both parties are doing a terrible job, that's why we need a Gary Johnson in the WH & about 218 of him in the People's House.
