@Lillymill Do you think this is a bad idea? Do you know how much simpler it is to actually have your 3D model in front of you to paint as you please? It's very hard in certain 3d programs to put textures and designs on your model, so this is a huge help.
I'm having problems exporting my 3d objects. Whenever I export my 3d layer in .obj format, I get a zero byte file (plus textures) that won't load in any 3d program. Anyone know why?
Thanks - That was my experience as well. 3ds Max model worked okay but some textures were out of place and polygons were distorted. obj models work okay (no textures import) but sometimes things like wheels will become part of the whole model in Photoshop CS4.
Doesn't work like BodyPaint. Sure you can create a texture map or bump map with Photoshop Layers and export them as flat maps/files, but it's a bit difficult to get the correct positioning on complicated models in PSCS4.
@Are694
That's why there are specialized tools for this sort of work - Zbrush, Deep Paint 3D.
I really think it's a bad idea to push Photoshop in this direction.
If they wanted new features, I'm sure there are plenty of things they could've added or improved.
