It may seem to be legal; I believe you will be getting a call from Elections BC. I find opportunist politicians that take advantage of such a serious issue like homelessness, just to get some free advertising at election time pathetic. Where were your good intentions last week, or six months ago. 4 days before elections, give me a break.

This is grasping at straws for votes, I don't know anyone who would fall for such an obvious trick, didn't your partner Hinton already try something like this and get reprimanded?
Given it was proposed by a lawyer, yes I strongly expect it will be legal. As for it being free advertising, the media only interviewed Langford candidates because they weren't able to reach Tom Morino or Robert Allington yesterday. I didn't expect any publicity on it, but I do hope to help spread this idea to other councils so that we can get a province-wide movement going to raise mor awareness about this growing problem.

This is something organised by Victoria candidate Robert Allington, and by local lawyer and Esquimalt candidate Tom Morino who has vetted it legally, and compared it to Hinton's suggestion as well. The difference is that this is moving money around in the municipal budget, it's not a personal contribution, so cannot be considered vote buying. It's unlikely Hinton's suggestion would have been deemed that by the courts if it was tested, but Morino believes this definitely will not.
