  • hi chris i have a 1974 bug and i have just very recently replaced the rear main seal and after i put the engine back in and drove it the next day i looked under the car and there is oil coming from the same place as before could this be the gearbox seal leaking need to know because i have just replaced all the clutch and i dont want it covered in oil like my last one. love the vids very helpful keep up the good work from Sam United Kingdom

  • @themadburleigh it could be yeah, the nose cone seal leaking. or it could also be the neck of the flywheel has a ring around it, so no matter what new seal you have in there it will still leak because of the flywheel being worn

  • The leak isnt terrible, it is alot better since i replaced the seal but still there.

  • @ibanezds39

they always mark their spot. If it is just a small drip, no worries.

  • @brighteyefilms thanks for the videos Chris. I heard that "all" beetles leak no matter what... Does it mean that a brand new (re)build with everything replaced will also leak? One drop per day is a fac of life? Thanks again.

  • @artifact2008 well if you seal the case correctly with good permatex and you get all new seals for the engine and a good flywheel with a smooth neck on it, you should be ok. Our rebuilds do not leak right off the bat, over time if the car is sitting a while, it could.

    Chris
