EU Court of Justice - a definition

One of the highest courts in the EU, based in Luxembourg, which makes sure that EU member states and institutions follow the law. The European Commission can take a member state to the Court of Justice if it has not followed EU law. Similarly, a member state can do the same to the Commission if it believes it has stepped over the line. The Court can also settle legal disputes involving businesses and individual citizens if national courts have failed to settle them.
