R.I.P. Tim Dog, Dead on February 14th, 2013 Due to Seizure

http://RapReviews.com/ East coast legend and "Fuck Compton" movement founder Timothy 'Tim Dog' Blair passed away today of a seizure due to complications from diabetes. We should all take a moment to remember him and for better or worst the 1990's rivalry between New York and Los Angeles he helped to kick off in earnest. R.I.P. Tim.

Always loved Tim Dog, but the East/West beef was going on YEARS before Tim Dog came along...If anything, Tim shamelessly tried to put his name on the map trying to capitalize from it.

I'll both agree and disagree. I agree that the East and West were rivals to a degree before Tim Dog, but no one from New York had made a record as blatantly disrespectful of the West as "Fuck Compton" before Tim Dog, and at a time when Snoop was just getting his start as Dr. Dre's protege, his "Tim M-U-T, your bark was loud but your bite wasn't vicious" response took the tension up another notch, which in my mind led directly to what happened at The Source Awards. Tim lit the powder keg on this.

Just read about his death not even 30 minutes ago. Songs like "Step to Me", "Dog's Gonna Getcha", "Bronx Nigga", and the anthemic "Fuck Compton", made "Penicillin on Wax" one of the rawest records ever. I've only been listening to him for a few years now, and I particularly enjoyed his collaberations with Kool Keith. "The Industry is Wack" is a hard hitting song with a potent message that is even more true today. Was hoping for a sequel to "Big Time", but I guess now it'll never happen :( RIP...
