Chemicals in cars become part of the air we breathe contributing to "new car smell" and a variety of acute and long-term health concerns. A new website, www.healthycar.org, rates vehicles according to the toxic chemicals inside the car.
DOT should set some VOC limits for interiors and cars with interior VOCs above those limits should qualify for repair or recall under state lemon laws. Especially if the VOCs are linked to driver fatique or mental status changes thus contributing to accidents. Our tax dollars fund govt agencies to protect us from unsafe cheap materials allowed by corporate lobbying and greed.
Thanks for this video! It is great to know that there's a resource to help make an informed choice without being afraid. Maybe someday automakers will only offer healthy cars to choose from. In the meantime, I'll tell everyone about healthycar.
