Afghan army sees soaring recruitment - 08 Jan 07

Afghanistan's army has reported an increase in recruitment figures in recent months, though joining is not simply a matter of "signing up".

Al Jazeera's Owen Fay reports from Afghanistan, where the army's relatively high pay has attracted those willing to face the dangers of combat.

It's our DUTY as Afghans to go back and help our motherland even if you weren't born in it! I unfortunately had to abandon Afghanistan as many Afghans have but we swore one day to return to help. Although I am a proud Canadian Citizen I refuse to forget my Mother Land and see it as a lost cause, and I am soon to be Reservest in the Canadian Forces any Afghans reader this it doesn't matter where you are currently it's our DUTY to help are motherland even if we don't live there

3 year term? FUck that if they want to join the AFghan Army they should be force to stay in until the war is over. This way anyone who joins the Afghan Army wont use their skills against the Nato troops if they help the Talibans.
