Yeah she was doped...Only U.S athletes are clean......I mean,this debate must end finally...90% of top athletes use drugs , and 99% of the greatest the last 30 years....B ut this doesn;t mean that if you are an average sprinter and use a ton of dope you can run like marita,usain,flo-jo or m.johnson..They have tallent and god giftedbody abilities

The fact that she was probably using drugs does not mean that she was not an extraordinary athlete. Wasn't Marion Jones doped ? And what about Lance Armstrong ? They have still exceptional abilities.

During late 70's up to 1988 it was really a great Era for Eastern women track and field athletes. Marita Koch was the best representative, and is a pleasure watching historic back to back world records. We would have more world records in case Easter countries would not follow the boikotaz and have taken part in 1984 L.A. Olympics. It was the year when all these athletes were on the top of their career.

she was not more doped or clean as any other in this time. But, if you would know more about sports in GDR, you would know that nowhere in the world the athlets worked harder to be successful. Thats a part of the things people like to ignore today. To talk about doping is easier and without knowlege about the system of East Germany it makes sense.

Was Koch clean ? Put it this way, NO athlete (man or woman) has EVER had a range from 60-400m like Koch whether they were doped up to the eyeballs or not.(Marita wasn't just world class at those distances, she set WR's at those distances), NO PED's can give an athlete SUCH a combination of raw speed AND endurance, they are BORN with it.

So is Koch clean ? Put it this way, the last survivor of Krypton doesn't need PED's in order to perform. Without a doubt, Koch is the greatest of all time.

This world record of 47.60 will last well into the 22nd century. Because of the strict and accurate drug testing done now, world class 400 female meter track stars struggle to run under 49.0 nowadays. Which leaves them with no chance of getting a bonus prize money for breaking a world record.

What's with all the F'ing arguing ? Just stfu because;

whether you are white, black, purple or green, from the US, Caribbean, Europe or Mars, just accept the fact that on any level playing field on any given day Marita would STILL be the greatest female sprinter of ALL TIME.

NOBODY else has EVER held WR's ranging from 60, 200 and 400m (solo) and 100 and 400 (relay), and no one will EVER do so again.
