If you ever had a chance to experience the recordings and/or (even more rare) live performance of the band "Tranquility" from 1971 - 1974, you would never forget them —Tight, angelic three and four part harmonies, doubled in parts, were their staple, fueled with engaging and memorable melodies —Now, the aforementioned, really, for me, corresponds, specifically, with the pinnacle of their creative prowess, which all came together on their second album, "Silver" —I, along with my musical compatriots were sure they were going to cut a huge swath at the top level of the rock and roll food chain, as they seemingly had it all —I dug that album so much, I bought three copies! —Then, inexplicably, Tranquility was, seemingly, gone as quickly as they had arrived —Ever since those days, I had wondered —Oh, I had heard that leader and songwriter, Terry Shaddick had co-written Olivia Newton John's 1981 hit, "Physical" with Steve Kipner but, that's all anyone seemed to know —Even in the age of cyberspace, there just didn't seem to be a whole lot of info.

Fast forward to 2009 —I ran into a blog (no longer in existence) where folks were sharing their tales of Tranquility experiences and bemoaning the fact that "Silver" was not available in a digital format —Terry Shaddick's ex-wife, Virginia happened to chime in to share some interesting info; some, of which, seem to indicate that Terry was in L.A. and, still writing —She, also, wrote that she used to have "Silver" in digital on a hard drive but, she thought it had gone by the wayside —Well, a couple of weeks later, Virginia throws-down with a link for downloading mp3 versions of all the cuts from "Silver" —Okay, it's true —It is compressed audio —But, hey —My vinyl's probably not quite the way I remember —So, I was stoked to snag a copy —And, there ya have it —That's how I lucked upon this treasure.

  • 'Couldn't possibly be" was the hit on this album, their next album was just as good

  • @Hbon56 Possibly you are thinking of their inaugural, self-titled album, "Tranquility", as there was no album following "Silver" —In fact the last vestiges of Tranquility was a single that included "Midnight Fortune" as the "A" side and B-side "One Day Lady" —I never heard either of those tunes —That first album is easy to get a hold of, though, for me, not nearly as memorable —Different line-up, as well...

  • Had the exquisite pleasure of catching these guys, opening for Jim Dawson, and the Byrds, somewhere in Joisey in the early 70's...but I went to see THEM...

I have always dreaded the idea of an eternity, but I recall consciously thinking as I was bathed in their beautiful voices live, that if eternity was THIS?....now that I could handle...rich!

Thanks for this...just got a goodbye e-mail (the times we live in!) and "....who do I turn to now?" was all I could think...

    Smiles to the loving ones

  • Saw these guys live around 72 or 73,they were phenomenal band 6 part harmonies live sadly that went sort of nowhere .there were 2 albums Silver was the second album

  • Epic botched this band and the release of this LP. It could have been huge.

  • Eat your hearts out Boys2Men!

  • Thanks for this, Silver is an incredible tune. Have the vinyl and converted it, but it is nice to see on YouTube. Another posting of this was removed recently for copyright issues. I would have more sympathy for the record company if they would release this digitally or on CD. If they won't let us get at it, screw the company.

  • Like the other comments here, I too have searched for this cut for years. Very under appreciated group. This music still has much to offer. It stands the test of time.

    Thx for adding it.

  • love love love this makes me weep

  • First heard this unusual album in !972-73 on Penn State radio and loved it. Wore out my vinyl LP and could never find another copy anywhere. Likewise, I was disappointed that there was never a digital version available. Thanks so much for posting.
