This is a fan video set to "Star Eyes (I Can't Catch It)", a gorgeously obsessive track from Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse's new slinky "Dark Night of The Soul" album, eerie yet beautiful guest vocals and songwriting were crooned by one of the greatest filmmakers of surreal cinema: yes, David Lynch (through what sounds like a deep well). David Lynch also provided his multi-talent to the album's title track as well as the release's 50+ page booklet of photographs illustrating the dark electronic production. The incredible release which has been hindered a physical one by EMI due to alleged contract breaches by Danger Mouse is available if you are willing to look for it. Other guests featured are from notable rock acts such as The Flaming Lips, The Strokes, The Pixies, Iggy Pop, and many more talented new artists. Make sure to check out the official site to support the project as well as get a Limited Edition issue (which includes the 50 page booklet, a 24"x36" poster, and a blank CD-R to use to your own devices :)

Also, on June 30th David Lynch is releasing another musical venture, a spooky 50s jazz/rock release ala Twin Peaks. For more information and a preview track, click here: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/06/david-lynch-music-fox-bat-strategy.html

  • Missa Confutatis good

  • This song is a gem, and definitely also one of my favorites on the album. The sum is simply bigger than the parts.

The video goes well with the song, doesn't impose on the music or lyrics, but instead adds another simple but visually beautiful layer to enjoy. Thx for sharing it.

  • I canned cat shit!

  • @claudiachaos1 haha, oh no, i was saying that on the songs he sings his vocals are very heavily processed with effects and things. i don't think he has sung anything that's just his plain recorded voice. the songs that he sings on this album are 'Star Eyes' and 'Dark Night of the Soul'.

  • @xboom The track is called Treated to hell and back or not? Having trouble finding it.....

  • yea david lynch definitely sings this song and another track on the album. vocals treated to hell and back or not, i think his singing is strangely very beautiful.

  • sweet little song with a guy named Davis Lynch

  • @bugju1ce

I'd think that would make more sense than David Lynch.

  • @DanteNeverCries He doesn't need credit! He didn't sing on this track. David Lynch did.

  • give James Mercer cred!
