PEOPLE LIKE US were a High-Energy Dance Group from Johannesburg, South Africa. They had many hit dance records around the world in the mid 80's, mostly released internationally via PASSION RECORDS in London. Their music was well produced, of a high quality with intelligently written lyrics (especially for Dance Music at the time). CINDY DICKINSON was the key vocalist. She has an outstanding voice and really made the People Like Us sound work - but was not always given proper credit by original group founders. Unfortunately original group founder Paul Crossley dies of an AIDS related illness around the time of their main success. Cindy Dickinson (now Cindy Guselli)lives in Durban, South Africa with well known East Coast Radio DJ husband, Dave Guselli. I remember seeing the original HIROSHIMA Music Video + interview with Cindy Dickinson on South African TV around 1987. (The original music video was filmed in Black & White). The video uploaded here is something i've put together as a tribute. I hope you enjoy it :) People Like Us also had hits with the songs DELIVERENCE, MIDNIGHT LOVER (US Dance Chart #1),and FIGHTING FOR OUR LIVES.
2008 UPDATE: Cindy Dickinson and business partner Denise Ostler formed "The Reach for the Stars Singing School" in Durban, South Africa. (More details to follow)

Hi Ralphisok, i found this CD on eBay in the UK. It the UK CD Album release from PASSION RECORDS (around 1987). I have the Original South African Album released by EMI SOUTH AFRICA also around 1987 (which was exclusively Cindy Dickinson on vocals). All the biggest People Like Us tracks were sung by Cindy. Her voice is amazing and i would love to see her back in the studio. Angie Gold was great as a solo singer (with Eat You Up) etc but for me Cindy is the one :)

Is this the same Cindy Dickinson who used to be in an S.A band 'Syndicate'? They made a song called 'Don't go into town' from around 1985. I remember it being featured on TV1's 'Pop Shop'

My God, this is amazing.....25 years ago I adored Deliverance, Midnight Lover,Reincarnation etc....but I never knew this existed.....thankyou so much for posting it and I agree with you...it's high time Cindy went back into the recording studio...makes me wonder how much of her stuff I may have missed?!!
