@haylybug No you're not forced to but since it's an older HTC device its harder to press the smaller things without the pen. You can flash a ROM that includes Touch Flo 3D on it though and it'll enhance performance. Other than that its a great device. But its a bit outdated, you should try the AT&T Tilt2, or if you're short on cash you can get the HTC Fuze which is cheaper.

okay so i'm getting an unlocked tilt. can I use the gps without being connected to internet? do I just get some gps software and it works?

I got the new fuze, and its good, so i think yes, and the keybaord is super good for texting!
