Danny Boy

Clearly the three best singers the Muppets have ever had to offer, together at last.

At some point we will have to pay the piper and take responsibility for our own actions and their consequences. Or else choose a path of action that will bring all those consequences and more crashing down upon our heads.

That's America today in a nutshell. Or at least my take on it. Hope these comments were additive.

This gradually became what we see today. A society in which personal accountability is rare, where blaming others in the norm, and where people have no concept of respect for themselves or others.

As a culture, we Americans have lost our way. We drink from a poisoned well. We use debt and monetary policy to maintain a lavish lifestyle we can't afford. We elect politicians who promise us the moon based on nothing. And we expect all our problems to be solved by someone else.

We have had tremendous successes in the past as a nation, but those successes were not followed with social structure and discipline. So we have people who have never really gone without anything, or known want their entire lives raising children. Unable to deal with conflicts, problems, and challenges we developed a grand delusion.

Americans, as a society, have fallen under the delusion that life shouldn't be hard. So we became litigious, began suing and blaming others.

Not sure how the discussion on international culture and ignorance got started but I'll add my two cents. I'm unsure of European nations, but in America our culture is suffocating itself and decaying from the inside.

People aren't teaching their children discipline, consequences are avoided, conflict is avoided, and people don't know how to be healthy as individuals. We have let our success as a country poison our society, and materialism and a culture of entertainment is rotting our bones.

Yes you are right in saying that Europe takes being informed about the world more serously than most north Americans. But a large part of that is because they have learned what ignorance and intolerance breeds. Whereas even Canadians as a vast majority I have to say haven't learned that lesson. But rather a culture that has its roots in America, and one that encourages people to be ignorant and self centered.

Bigotry? You´re making me laugh! I´ve lived in three different countries, and I know that Germans -for example- are much more informed about the world that Americans are. I never said ignorance is unique to so called "Americans" (American is actually a continentality, not a nationality, that´s one good example). So, You tube is consumerism?;-) So funny.Best regards.

It's not "things" that pin us down, thats not what I said. I said we're to diverse to be pinned down, and you've proven that with your biggotry. Chewing gum? Ignorance of other cultures? Thats true with ALL people, and all cultures. You can't say that's unique to Americans. And as far as cunsumerism goes...how are YOU enjoying YouTube?

Yeas, I´ve seen Monthy Python on a weekly basis. Lots of laughing at other cultures, though.
Americans have many things to pin them down: chewing gum, cosumerism, coca-cola, junk food, ignorance about other cultures and languages, uf, should I continue? ;-) If you they don´t laugh at themselves it´s because they take themselves too seriously.
