But these sets can't be mutually exclusive. The people who were not expecting a trinary joke either have to know binary or not. If you take a closer look, all of them have to be in the combined set of people who know binary and who don't, so wouldn't you still have only two sets of people if you don't want to make this a paradox? (Yes, I know it's absurd to analyse a joke like that, but I just had that thought and wanted to share it. ;-)
