Selbstgebautes Grammophon / Homemade Gramophone - preview

English description in the second half!

OK, nicht ganz selbstgebaut, eigentlich nur der Trichter.... ;)
Das Gerät ist noch nicht ganz fertig, steht aber zumindest an Ort und Stelle.
Der Trichtermund benötigt noch eine Lackierung.

Deshalb hier erstmal eine Vorschau, eine ausführliche Vorstellung - auch wie ich den Trichter gebaut habe - wird noch kommen.

Soviel vorweg: Der Trichter ist aus Pappmache und Gips, insgesamt knapp 2 meter lang. Der aufgewickelte Tonarm hat eine akustische Länge von c. 70cm. Zusammen mit dem internen Rohrstück ergibt sich eine gesamte akustische Länge von knapp 3 metern.

2/3 der Hornlänge sind nach einer Exponentialfunktion gebaut. Dies verbessert die Basswiedergabe und vermindert Verzerrungen. Die Kurve des Trichtermundes ist an ein Kugelwellenhorn angelehnt.

Der Durchmesser des Trichtermundes beträgt 1,2 meter.

Für bessere Höhenwiedergabe ist der Trichter innen mit mehreren Schichten Schellack überzogen.

Die Schalldose ist eine komplett zerlegte und neu aufgebaute Victor Orthophonic.

Ich benötige noch ein gutes Mikrophon - das kleine Ding in der Digitalkamera kann den guten Klang des Gerätes nicht wirklich aufnehmen.

Ausserdem muss ich noch für bessere Beleutung sorgen.

Zukünftig möchte ich hochgeladene Platten neben dem digitalen Transfer jeweils auch mit einer Abspielung auf diesem Grammophon vorstellen. Ich hoffe so allen Puristen entgegen zu kommen, die eine digitale Nachbearbeitung ablehnen ;)

Today I want to show you a preview of my homemade gramophone. Ok, only the horn is homemade... ;)

It isn´t ready - it needs a shellac coating of the horn mouth. Also I´m in the need of a good microphone. The tinny thing in my digicam isn´t able to give the full sound of this phonograph. Also I need better light for my videos...

In the future I want to share my records with you not only with the digital transfer, but also played on this gramophone.

Some datas: The horn is made out of paper-mache and plaster. It´s length is c 2 meters (6,2 feet).
The folded tonearm has a length of c. 70 cm. Together with the inside the acoustic length of the horn is almost 3 meters (9,8 feet)
For better treble response, the inside of the horn is coated with several layers of shellac.
2/3 of the horn are built with a exponential curve. This gives better bass response.

Der Klang ist ja so gut wie bei elektrischer Wiedergabe! Bin begeistert! Auch die Arbeit die da drin steckt.. auf die Idee wär ich gar nicht gekommen..

could you tell me how you made the white part of the horn, i am curently making a horn like this for my homemade gramophone but i dont know how im going to make that part of it
