Sir Charles Mackerras conducted five Festival operas at Glyndebourne, beginning with Falstaff in 1990. This was followed by Le nozze di Figaro (1997), Rodelinda (1999), Die Zauberflöte (2005) and Così fan tutte (2010).

In this, his final interview with James Whitbourn, Sir Charles speaks about his career, conducting Mozart and in particular Così fan tutte.

  • Mozart is the greatest genius of any field of human endeavor.

    "Mozart is the musical Christ."

    -Tchaikovsky

  • @hannaalmacy yeah that is strange....but the same sets etc were used

  • Isn't this interview about Sir Mackerras? Why is Ivan Fischer's 2006 version used as the background--quite misleading.

  • i never met him but i really am going to miss him...
