Joe arrives at Demi's house 10 minutes later. He goes in and sees Demi in the kitchen, packing a few things in boxes. He goes behind her and wraps his arms around her waist. Demi stops and turns her face toward him.
Demi: Back so soon?
Joe: yeah.
demi: what did your parents say?
Joe: they said yes.
She turns around to face him.
Joe: my mom said that she'd love to have you and the kids move in.
Demi: really? you're not kidding?
Joe: nope. its true.
Demi: wow. thats- thats great.
Joe: yup, and hey, Kev even offered to switch rooms.
Demi: aww. seriously?
Joe: i'm not kidding.
Demi: thats awesome. So, did you eat yet?
Joe: done. How bout you? Where are the kids?
Demi: yeah, we're done and they're asleep.
Joe: oh.
Demi: which reminds me, i have to go check up on them. Will you take over, theres just a few more things in here to pack.
Joe: sure.
Demi turns to go upstairs, then Joe remembered the funeral tomorrow.
Joe: oh, wait!
Demi: *she turns back around* Yeah?
Joe: umm, the funeral, its tomorrow.
Demi: already? wow, time flies.
Joe: yeah, and on the way Ash's mom called.
Demi: what did she say?
Joe: She was wondering if you wanted to, you know, say a few words at the church.
Demi: me? why me?
Joe: oh, you're not the only one.
Demi: Who else then?
Joe: Sel is and so is Vanessa...and Kevin.
Demi: wow.
Joe: She says you dont have to. But to think about it.
Demi: okay. I'll think about it.
She turned around and went upstairs, her mind focused on tomorrow. Should she do it? What if she broke down, she'd embarass herself in front of everyone. But she didnt wanna turn down that offer. Part of her wanted to, but the other said that she was gonna make a fool of herself. She went into the twins room and found them still asleep the way she had left them. Quickly, she kisses each on their forehead then stepped back and just stared at the room, lost in her thoughts. 5 minutes later, she went back downstairs to Joe.
Demi: I'm gonna do it.
Joe: you are?
Demi: yes. i've thought about it and i wanna do it.
Joe: Well, thats great then.
Demi: i hope i'm doing the right thing.
Joe: you are. trust me.
The next day, at the church.
Everyone was dressed in black and some people were already in tears. Demi didnt wanna be there because of the crying but she did her best to hold back tears. She was sitting next to Joe and he had his arm around her, protectively. In the morning, she went to drop off Rosie & Adam to her neighbors, they didnt need to come anyway. Now, Selena was in the middle of her speech and she already had tears in her eyes. Vanessa already went and she had ended up the same way. But she was told that it was okay to cry. Kevin was next and then it was her turn. As Selena was finishing up, Kevin was getting ready to go up. Kevin then got up and stood at the podium looking at everyone's sad eyes. He cleared his throat and began.
Kevin: Ashley. i never got her out of my mind since the day at the airport. She was about to leave. I knew i should've tried my best to stop her, but i didnt have the power to do so. At the start, i told myself that it was all my fault...but a friend later told me that it was no one's fault and i shouldnt be blaming myself for what happened. So, i did what i was told. Yesterday, i listened to the song she wrote me, it broke my heart. I remembered our very first date. We had dinner then slow danced to one of her favorite songs. We were then together for more than a year. We loved each other. That takes me back to the first time ever that she told me she loved me. I remember the date, June 27 (A/N: its a random date). She understood our crazy schedule. But yet, i always have set time aside for us. I know i'll never love anyone the way i loved Ashley. *a tear strolls down his cheek* Thank you.
He finished up then he went down and outside. He needed air while tears fell from his eyes. Then, it was Demi's turn.
