The property contains two ponds, as well as many of the fresh water springs that supply Shu Swamp and in turn, Beaver Dam and Mill Neck Creek. Its acquisition would create a continuous preserve all the way to the Oyster Bay National Wildlife Refuge, helping to protect water quality so critical to the health of the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor estuary system.

  • The property is a fragile piece of environmental beauty. Congratulations to Friends Of The Bay on acquiring this gem of a magical place. It takes work and action to preserve our endangered open space. We must all do something..anything...to preserve the beauty of nature. Thank you for posting!

  • It's a little slice of heaven.

  • Good luck with the project. fighting against the Bayville to Rye bridge also helped to save the area. I remember a time where the federal government almost returned the land to the county.
