I don't think Grohl had to be taught about music by Kurt. He was a punk fan from way back and was touring with Scream aged 17, years before Nirvana started. Grohl already knew the Melvins and it was Buzz who recommended Kurt and Krist check out Grohl when they were looking for a new drummer.

Yeah, but thats something id expect because Buzz is the one who basically taught Kurt Cobain everything he knew about making music, then kurt passed that on to Dave. That and those guys are all friends and listen to eachothers music. So similar songs is something that is really just bound to happen. The main riff to Milk It was written by buzz btw.
