Lyrics:
Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang
Sail to me
Sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting to hold you

Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you hare when I was fox?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks,
For you sing, touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow:
O my heart, o my heart shies from the sorrow

I am puzzled as the newborn child
I am troubled at the tide:
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Should I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing, swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you:
Here I am, here I am, waiting to hold you

The Empyrean is the tenth solo album by John Frusciante, scheduled to be released worldwide on January 20, 2009 through Record Collection. Frusciante does not plan on a following tour, as he instead wants to focus on writing and recording. Frusciante asserts that the record "was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008," and is a concept album that tells "a single story both musically and lyrically."[1] The Empyrean contains a version of Tim Buckley's, "Song To The Siren", from his 1970 album Starsailor. The record also features an array of collaborators and guest musicians including Frusciante's band mate Flea, and friends Josh Klinghoffer and Johnny Marr, among others. The album leaked onto the internet on January 13th, 2009.

  • really nice version!! nothing can beat the original, but John sings beautifully here. not many people can do justice to Tim Buckley.

  • This is a cover version of a song written by Tim Buckley - I like John's take on it. I am a little partial to This Mortal Coils cover because Elizabeth F. of the Cocteau Twins has a hell of a set of pipes@

  • a great song !!!

  • Yeah, I got a bit harsh, too. Don't apologize.

  • haha sorry i figured that out like 10 mins later im sorry man. hahaha. i feel so stupid haha

  • No, it's hare and fox. That's what the Tim Buckley version says, that what it sounds like, and that's what makes it rhyme.

Seriously, think stuff out/learn before you act.

  • it says were you here when i was a far
