---Educate yourself--- Listen to Aretha Franklin's version, or even listen to Sam Cooke's version and then read about his life. Or better yet, the Civil Rights movement. Now go back and listen to these 'kids'. Not sick yet? Well also, the band was originated in Long Beach, California. The 2010 United States Census[17] reported that Long Beach had a population of 462,257. The racial makeup of Long Beach was 213,066 (46.1%) White, 62,603 (13.5%) African American

It's not even about these indie rockers getting the notes or rhythms right. It's a lack of both intensity and passion, or rather... SOUL. This just exemplifies how they have no inner turmoil themselves so they turn to cover the Civil Rights anthem. Being young and not fully educated, one would think this is hip and oh, real intellectual. No. It's just growing stupid in society.

Half the time i love this guys voice and the other half he reminds me of the paedo old man character in family guy.

@ldao88 The better version of this song, that i know of anyway, is the b-side to the 'hospital beds' 7" single, i would upload it if i knew how, but not sure

the fact that nathan doesn't have sam's range but is trying so hard, yet coming up short, gives this cover some character. not bad.

There's a better version of them doing this somewhere out there. It's one where his voice doesn't crack. He says it's a real risk taker or something like that at the end. Do you have that one?

Unfortunately, I don't. I somehow discovered this one long ago through google, of course. You might have some luck looking for it there as well. Wish I did have this one you speak of though.

@shaolinkin
Check out their EP "Live from the Paradiso." That's where you can find a quality live version of this cover. Plus an amazing version of "St. John."

@mysteriousduende Will do, thanks.

@shaolinkin I have that version, where at the end he says "that was a first timer, that was a little risk taker". Think I found it on hypemachine. I have the mp3 though if you need me to send it to you

@lloydicus Thanks, but I'm gonna just go with mysteriousduende's suggestion about the EP Live From The Paradiso.
