Peter was a fantastic musician/organist and a good friend. We had just traveled around NY looking and eventually purchasing a 5 manual console for his home, then working on the new stop list when the stroke hit. Utter devastation for him. He could barely utter words. He became a recluse (No surprise). His family and partner were devoted to him to the end.

And didn't he have a position as organist at a religious science church?
-
I'm told that he died of complications from AIDS. I'm told that after he left the Crystal Cathedral he went back home to Syracuse NY to live with/be taken care of by his parents. He passed away on 6/30/08 with his family there.
I'm weary about posting this because this is how rumors get spread: one person tells another something without the secondhand person checking with the actual source. So, if anyone knows anything to the contrary, please do reply so that I might delete this post.

ALL TIME FAVORITE ORGANCOMPOSITION!

WOAH!!! A shock indeed I can remember accompanying on the organ when Fred Swann conducted the choir. RIB Baiichi. What was the cause of his untimely death?

I did not know he past away. What a shock.. Such a young and vibrant age. This is a big loss to the organ world. May Peter Baicchi be forever remembered.

RIP peter baicchi (baichi) 1970-2008, for whom the piece was written.
Wanted to play this song for years, even got the music from Brian. I feel you need space with a lot of reverberation (such as the crystal cathedral) to pull it off. Heck of a piece though.

Yeah, this sanctuary didn't exactly do the piece justice. Also, I didn't play it nearly fast enough! I think I was just nervous about it being my senior recital, so I opted to play it slower and "get the notes right", and, even then, I messed up the beginning! It's definitely NOT an easy piece. Even S. Wayne Foster plays it under tempo because he says it's difficult.
