Dilla did sample zelda but not in this track in another track on "3 beat tapes" on the 2nd beat tape can't remember the track though..
-
if you go back to his old tapes he used lots of names for the same beat. the name changes a shit load. when you are doing sooo many different beats a day the name doesn't really mean anything. he prob just named it zelda cause he found the game in his closet or something. who knows really rip

This is on Jay Stay Paid and it's called "Blood Sport"?
-
@babiislash thats the sample used in the outro part, not the main beat, smart guy.
-
If I made the beat, I probably would have called it Zelda too because of the Nintendo-ish fantasy sound the sample has...forgot the source material that fast lol.

@scotchbonett I can understand @svendiamond 's question. it's the same question I ask of this & the lil wayne Megaman beat.
As a gamer & a hip hop fan/creator I bring the both of both worlds together, even if a riff sounds like something from zelda. I just like to know roots, be it from a game or a hip hop beat. Music is cyclical; understanding that, i like to see how the cycle begins & ends.
Even now, I'm still puzzled by 1 MF DOOM beat

I LOVE that beat at the end!! R.I.P. Dilla!

@LonerKid6981 "dilla" sound kits are all over the web. but all they are, are re-used stock sounds. thats pretty much all any "kit" is. some are just eq'd or tuned differently, but most are the same. dilla probably got his "badazz" sounds from sampled records/breaks
-
that's a badazz snare! does anyone know where i can get a dilla snare kit??
@scotchbonett how do you know he sampled Zelda? I think he just named it that to throw people off... or because he thought it sounded Zelda-ish...

@svendiamond i don´t know, and i never affirmed that he sampled the melody from one of the zelda games. i just know, that on the beat tapes this beat is called ZELDA. why is it so important for you?
