They are not direct injected. The injectors can be in the head or in the intake or both. I've seen 16 injector setups. The injectors in the head are above the valves. If they were direct injected, the injector would be in the cylinder and be timed of the crank. This is just a constant flow system that has a cam driven fuel pump and bypasses to tune.

@arizonaresident1 a 372 motor we used to run them all the time here untill all the tracks went to 410 but their are still a few about
