Johan Jonatan Bj?rling (5 February 1911 ? 9 September 1960) was a Swedish tenor. One of the leading operatic singers of the 20th Century, Bj?rling appeared frequently at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as well as most other leading opera houses.Bj?rling was known as the "Swedish Caruso".
Mattinata (English: Morning) was the first song ever written expressly for the Gramophone Company (the present day HMV). Composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo in 1904, this song was dedicated to Enrico Caruso. Ever since, this piece has become a concert favourite.
