Business Continuity & Availability Disaster tolerant capabilities are put to the test with this simulated gas explosion. See how full IT services are restored in seconds across multiple products & operating systems.
I can assure you from direct knowledge of the event that the explosion and destruction of the primary nodes was real. Amazing what a few pounds of PETN and some buckets of diesel fuel can do, huh? (The diesel was for fireball and smoke effect. Otherwise, you'd have seen mostly just shrapnel flying in all directions.) On the lighter side, I hope anyone with two brain cells could rub them together and work out the fact that the fish "recovery" was in fact a joke.
no they have a second set of servers (backups) which it switches to that was the point of the video-how fast can it switch over to the other servers not if they could withstand that
I couldn't tell from the video, but its likely they did damage some of the internal components, but these systems have redundant everything, power, cpu, memory. I'd suspect they did shoot right thru one of the cpus, but did not shoot the system enough to take out all the cpus.
It would be fun to see them spray one of these boxes with an AK. I wonder if it would still run then?
yeah, the fish are bullshit but they do have a white paper out describing this. Hell if they aren't writing to the databases, I would expect them to be able to come up more or less immediately, though it is impressive to see.
@poussin78640 If it really happen like that. I think by the time u unplug it u will be fried human. :)

Why don't they just unplug the servers ? Its less expensive ;)

this is so much bullshit, if you want to test that just cut the connectivity to one site :)
I suppose this is made to impress non-technical CEOs
I wonder if they really blew up all that equipment or if there were just some empty cases.
