Pianist Sara Daneshpour of the United States performs the Étude-tableau in C minor, Op. 39 No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff at the quarterfinals of the 2008 Montreal International Musical Competition on May 20th, 2008.
This is truely magnificent pianism & transcendental playing! Like from the "Golden age of the Piano". What a marvelous gift she has & we get to benefit. After my 50 years of seeing them all in recital, I submit that this genius is extraordinary. The only reading of this piece I can compare to hers is that of Ruth Laredo.....
Wow, amazing and captivating from start till end. Literally within the first second after she started the piece i could here exactly the musicality she was trying to bring to the piece.
Sara, I heard you on the radio today and I almost drove off the road - I was so excited! I was looking for the Tocatta and found this. Bravo and keep up the good work. Hugs from us all in CA - Bonnie
Thank you Rachmaninoff for having composed such a masterwork.

I always felt you were great, ever since you showed up at Kapell in 2007.
