Obscurantist pap. The biggest 'unhinged' decision this person will make is to avoid doing this (like the rest of us). Why do we put up with this sort of Empress' New Kimono, just because it's Japanese? No surprises here, or hear. Haven't we heard all this from the early 60s avantgardeners? There are also very very many people doing this, right now. Why single out this one? ...I guess it's not that important...

yessiree yumiko tanaka is the shittt--i was at the kyoto ftarri fest and felt like it could have used a bit more oomph. wish she were there; everybody should buy a copy of ground-zero's "plays standards" just to hear her voice and shamisen work on "bones".

'Bones' is a great example of Tanaka unhinged. For further recordings showing that particular side of her work I'd direct you to 'Sensyo' from John Zorn's 'Cobra' and the Kitchen Drinkers' album.
