The Beauty of the Coward
The way he runs
His handsome face against the gunshot of the wind
The beauty of the coward
The way he stumbles when he runs
Burning up in the atmosphere
The base-jumping burning-ember
Crossing the river of the sky at night alone

Your fortunate feet arriving at my door
As all cowards are lucky
Tears running down your face
Watercolours on your skin
Skin as white as racists
Loitering near the hangman's branch.
You are another lost sequin
From the dress of a woman
Gathered up in sorrow

The Beauty of the Coward
You cannot deny
The way he leaves you behind
His handsome face mouthing words
Incantations in the dark
His guilt as frail as a paper swan
Sunk in the mouth of his cleverness

Now all nations are the same
Now that the white flag of surrender
Today, is the only flag we use
The only flag we choose to defend
And the only flag we all represent

  • I changed the title - ooww yeah!

  • Found the poem to be really interesting. What was the inspiration?

  • @elpueblo88 A coward mostly. Thanks for checking my poem out. Videos of poetry never go viral, so 6 ratings is like -orgasm!-

  • The flag we can now wipe our feet on.

  • @thestranger11 I don't have feet. Just bloodied stumps.

  • @EllyMcCormack Or wheels, like me.

  • @thestranger11 lool but you've put tassels and cardboard wings on your wheelchair, which will surely make it go faster...
