I miss The Constitution and separate branches of government. That was the point, checks and balances.

Oops, correction: standards....

Rushforpres, you are shooting yourself in the foot. You seem blinded by some sort of hate toward "Dems". It is not likely that you are highly educated, or that your thinking is completely formed. You seem to operate on emotion, not logic. If you are for upholding the law, then you should be for the arrest of Karl Rove and . here clearly you set double standerds. Those who call for Rove's arrest are mostly Democrats and because you hate them, you choose to stand up for this law breaker.

It is amazing how easily all too many Americans can be manipulated with (cleverly engineered) speaches and buzzwords. It has become an extreme sport to sway opinion and to play psychological warfare. The Neocons have taken this to a new level lately. Please, fellow Americans, learn to analize, think critically and do not let emotion dominate your thinking. Otherwise you will be tricked to vote against your best interest! Karl Rove is a criminal can't you understand?

It's not a matter of who owns who. It's a matter of law and this administration has clearly shown it's contempt of law. what would you say to soldiers who decided they didn't have to show up for formation, or go where they were to be deployed because they felt they had no obligation to comply.would their argument "we own you guys" suffice?

So for example, Cheney thinks he's part of the Senate (Article 1, section 3) and part of the Executive Branch (Article 2) at his convenience. He's got executive privilege and can decide whether impeachment hearings take place in the Senate. Mukasey hand picked as the head of the Justice Department (under the Executive Branch) to keep from enforcing the laws. Hmmmm convenient.
I just don't think Rove has an official title in the Executive branch.
This is really a weird situation.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, July 10. Karl Rove has said he was not going to testify in front
"We want to make clear that the subcommittee will convene as scheduled and expects Mr. Rove to appear, and that a refusal to appear in violation of the subpoena could subject Mr. Rove to contempt proceedings, including statutory contempt under federal law and proceedings under the inherent contempt authority of the House of Representatives," Conyers and Sanchez wrote in a letter to Rove's attorney.

With this lawlessness, the checks and balances have been circumvented and removed. And you are not even upset about it; you rejoice.
Begin enjoying the lawless country you have helped to create. The current administration has no regard for the law whatsoever. Someday, they will even cart you off without habeas corpus, the right to see a judge, a court trial of your peers, etc. You may even be tortured. Laugh if you want, but this is the beginning of a dictatorship.

There are none if we can't get someone that's a political character to testify in front of congress. We have arrived. We live in a lawless country.
-
This means that we have no check and balances in this country. We have arrived. We are no longer a nation of laws, but a nation of people. This is the mark of a dictatorship.
Cheney, as President of the Senate, would lead the proceedings in a Inherent Contempt case.

The House is the body of Congress he's in contempt of, not the Senate and if it was the Senate Cheney is not Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. Pat Leahy is. John Conyers is the Chairman in the House.
