A fabulous fly for all panfish, this is easy to tie and so productive it should be banned! Tie a few of these before you hit the pond this summer!

  • You can use a thread color to match the body or you can contrast as you see fit. I haven't noticed a difference in effectiveness. You could certainly weight this with a brass bead or tungsten bead behind the chennile and hold it in place with a thread dam.

  • The first 20 seconds sound like it's from a cheesey morning radio show. lol

  • Blues and bluegill fishing are two of the things I like best, who would have thought I'd find them both in the same place? :)

  • What color of thread do you use for the pink body and the black body?

  • Thanks Joe

  • you can use plain rubber bands to make this fly and use copper instead of lead

  • you can use plain rubber bands to make this fly

  • @ceiligirl23 just use less lead

  • this is too much effort for a blue gill fly

  • I found it really helpful how you explined that the weight is at the back of the fly, and the action of the legs is as it drops. Do you know if there are any non-lead materials that could be used (instead of lead)?
