My student sent me a YouTube video challenging the grade that I gave him on his speech in my class (on how to become a YouTube celebrity)...I decided to respond through YouTube myself.

There is a right and a wrong way to challenge a grade. My student took the time and effort to actually conscientiously analyze my comments and his own work. That is the right way.

Now while I wouldn't recommend every student make a video to challenge their grade on an assignment, I thought it was very appropriate for the topic at hand and absolutely love the creativity.

Not my best YouTube video, but it achieves its purpose.

  • This is awesome! I am a speech professor too, but not as creative as you are. Awesome job with your response.

  • Nice :)) I laughed 'till I fell when I heard Iron Man from Sabbath in the background on the 'perfect teacher' part. Very nice. :D

  • Wow. Wow. I'm speechless. In your case teaching seems to truly be a vocation. We all can only wish to have such teachers at our universities. Mostly, they're 'never wrong' and would be infuriated if anybody commented on their grading on the YT.

  • I start my 4th year of teaching next week-ish, and I have to say, after 3 years of grading college kids, this video made me giddy to watch. Truly, just giddy. Your students are lucky to have you, and thank you so much for posting this.

  • Kudos to this!

So how would you have ranked the shortest ADS in the world I uploaded to my YouTube? She's at AFA right now. ...not with that speech, though. haha

The AAA thing made me laugh. :)

  • awesome!!

  • Good job cousin!

  • LOL very funny

  • OMG! I loved Depp in this video! He rocked! This youtube should inspire conversations for students and teachers all over the world! Thanks!
