At :43 is my now husband Chris and when they show him again it's me standing next to him. Just acouple hours before this video the water was up to our chest. And those Slidell Cops, people that were trying to bring in food right after the storm were turned away. Thankfully the town is coming back!
I dont care what they say Slidell got it bad but down here in south Mississippi, we got it. Casino barges were pushed across towns! My house doesn't even exist and there were no tornados. So sorry but we got it worse and our St. Louis bay bridge was destroyed.
I was born in Slidell and lived on the water. I miss it so much. The camps, happy fishing shacks, memories of a lifetime- just swept away. I hate to see the population of Louisiana all in upheaval.
Hey thanks from another Slidellian. Hope you come visiting again soon. As you know, a bunch has changed. Especially the population. But we are getting back on our feet. Peace.

Slidell will always be in my heart.
I came down after Katrina and worked with animal rescue (Noah's Wish) out of the city yard on Bayou Lane.
Someday I will make that 2000 KM trip again and see it in a better light.
