At the transfer station is where the rubbish trucks unload their rubbish and it is collected and sent to the landfill after being compacted. In some cases rubbish is sorted to remove cardboard and metals.
The compactor featured is much slower then the usual one you would see at the transfer station. This compactor would be more suited to a large complex such as a hospital or mall.
To keep the smell down, odorizers are sprayed around every 40 minutes or when a truck arrives. For real bad smells, lime is used to naturalize it. The only thing you have to worry about is the flys.
In this particular transfer station, rubbish cannot be left on the floor at the end of the day.
Thank you to "Kiwigarbo" for letting me film at the transfer station.
I'd rather be using a front end loader to feed the compactor, seems too time consuming using a grapple, don't seem to get much held in each lift either. Compactor is bloody slow alright, I'd die watching that thing all day lol Also about the floor needing to be cleared each day, you saying all material must be packed in containers ready for transfer? Neat footage!!!

Yes, it would be a lot quicker to use a front end loader on the compactor, but this is being used to fill a bin at the other end of the warehouse. There is not a lot of room in this place either. Getting a front end loader to move around the compactor would be rather difficult.

And yes, all materiel needs to be in containers ready for transfer. It is one of the terms of lease on the warehouse building being used. If there is rubbish to be left on the floor over night, the regional council needs to be informed as to how much and reasons why it is to be left there.
