The West Virginia AFL-CIO, West Virginia Education Association, West Virginians for Affordable Health Care, WV-Citizen Action Group, West Virginia Nurses Association and Organizing for America held a press conference with Congressman Nick Joe Rahall to thank the Congressman for his support of the health care reform bill that passed the House of Representatives on Saturday night. The organizations and Congressman Rahall discussed the impact that the bill will have on West Virginia.
This is a watered down version of the press conference.
UPDATE (11/17/2009)There were other speakers present from West Virginia AFL-CIO, West Virginia Education Association, West Virginians for Affordable Health Care, West Virginia Nurses Association and Organizing for America. Note* The WV-DNC DID not speak.
Also, WV-CAG was not the sole sponsor! This was a joint effort.
This press conference was about an issue: health care reform, NOT PARTISAN politics. Not all Republicans are against a public health insurance option in health care reform and not all Democrats are for it.
If Capito supported the bill in question we would have done the same for her too!
Again, THIS IS ABOUT AN ISSUE!
