I do not understand why anyone would prefer the 1944 Laurence Olivier version. It was so dry and lacking any sort of weight. This at least taps into that human well called emotion.

Beautiful. Never seen this film, read the play obviousely but never seen the film. Branagh is an exceptional talent.

This is the very first time I have ever appreciated Shakespeare. I never got it before but now I do. I want more.

I first saw this waaaaaay back in 1989 and I knew nothing of this play or Kenneth Branagh. This speech took my completely by surprise and when I heard him say "For we are but warriors of the working day" I was hooked!
The tennis balls scene is classic too!
