I do not understand why anyone would prefer the 1944 Laurence Olivier version. It was so dry and lacking any sort of weight. This at least taps into that human well called emotion.

This is the very first time I have ever appreciated Shakespeare. I never got it before but now I do. I want more.

I first saw this waaaaaay back in 1989 and I knew nothing of this play or Kenneth Branagh. This speech took my completely by surprise and when I heard him say "For we are but warriors of the working day" I was hooked!
The tennis balls scene is classic too!

To me, this is the greatest war movie of all time. So many war movies feature the morale speech prior to war, for example, Braveheart. But compare the Braveheart speech by Gibson to this speech by Shakespeare through Branagh. There is just no comparison. After Branagh doing Henry V, all the rest is trash.
