Monique Leyrac singing "Parlez-moi de vous" by Claude Gauthier. Recorded live at the "Comedie-Canadienne" in November 1965. Musical director: Andre Gagnon (sorry--don't yet know how to find accents on my Macbook). Pardon the hisses and crackles...a well-played LP since that date. I just think it's phenomenal singing and entertaining--the charming way she whispers as if to a lover at the end. This is a fine LP if you can find it. Not available on iTunes last time I looked. I of course do not have any copyrights...I just want to trumpet this woman's great stage presence and voice, and let others know of her.

  • Effectively, Monique is a wonderfull interpreter. Sensitive, varied and letter-perfect all at the same time! Impeccable diction yet constantly playing with accents, tones of voice, hesitations... all for the perfection not only of the rigourous interpretation but also of the transmission of the emotion and of the message. Most certainly one of the very greatest!

  • @Tahititoutou Search for "La Rodeuse," which I have just put up. Lousy video, great song.

  • I have l'Hiver. You can see for yourself in the video which songs are on the LP, all of which I'll get on here. I have translated La Rodeuse--the lurker, the wraith--but there are gaps as I cannot make out all her words, nor find them elsewhere.

yes, that Vigneault song i don't believe was written as a nationalist song, but surely has become that. Though I think he is separatist, Vigneault.

Would you happen to know if she's still with us? I think yes, but has to be quite old.

  • Glad the few of you enjoy this. I have been trying to translate the LP, so I can play this material myself, and just for the practice. Very few of you seem to know this LP, and that's great--a small club. If I knew better how to just stick one image in there and be done with it, I would. As it is I have to keep loading my photos until it's done. If I had the time I'd invent animations!

  • thank you so much for posting this. I grew up with this song and have been missing it.

  • Superbe.

  • @fingling8 I am not familiar with that song but I might be able to help. I will listen to it later; I am not in a place where I can play audio right now. Have you got this one translated?

  • At the time this album came out she was not well-known in English-speaking Canada and still isn't really; she is mainly known for her iconic rendition of Mon Pays, the unofficial anthem of Quebec. And *that* is still only here as one concert performance. I don't suppose you have L'hiver or Les Hirondelles? Je viendrai mourir? Those songs really take that voice out and let it strut its stuff.

  • Bienvenu, and more to come. I just think she's a fabulous, sexy creature.
