This is Gracie and Kiwi playing "rumble" or "who can grab the other one's feet first". Gracie is a Cherry-Headed Conure and Kiwi is a Hahns Macaw. Gracie was adopted from The Gabriel Foundation and she is handicapped, so that's the reason for her little waddle. These two playing remind me of when I was a kid growing up with my younger brother as we "rumbled" & play fought, yet always had the company of each other. This video also demonstrates the tenderness, need for play, and the strong social bonds and social needs of parrots. These guys have taught me much about being a better human being.
Thanks Bobbi. I just love their tender "cooing" sounds as they take turns "winning" the rumble. I also love watching their subtle body language with regard to feathering. Gracie does a slight cheek fluff that indicates her contentment with the interaction. And of course, they love hanging out on me... my crossed legs must have seemed like mini mountains to climb!
