This video is a first draft, it is aimed at gathering constructive criticism any comments no matter how destroying are much appreciated to help better future uploads. Also Note its not Next Generation but On Site Generation Solar in the Sponsors, this will be changed shortly

As part of a two man team 20 year old students Will Copestake and Remi Mcmurtry flew from Scotland to Iceland in the summer of 2011. Their aim was to hike roughly 600km from Iceland's southern most point to its northern most tip. The first attempt failed with a late winter snowmelt boosting rivers to an uncrossable level. A second successful attempt was made in July where they crossed in 27 days. Two months was also spent hitch-hiking, trekking, living in tents and eating S.M.A.S.H in copious quantity all around Iceland's magical landscape.

This Expedition was raising funds for a small Scottish charity 'Made in Ullapool' Local to Will Copestake's hometown.

A grateful thank you to the Yeos for your wonderful hospitality and to all those who contributed and supported us along the way.

  • Great job, guys! The video is absolutely stunning. I came across this video because I'm also planning on flying to Iceland this upcoming July for 3-4 weeks to traverse the island unsupported (although it wouldn't be through the entire island as time is an issue).

How did you find the wind, weather and local support? Cheers.

  • @docalex007 Thank you very much.

The wind can be quite brutal but manageable none the less. We experienced 11 days of solid rain (in July) but survived. Good plan to go in July, the snow should have melted by then which means lower rivers and far less thicksotropic mud to deal with.

Local support is absolutely superb. Public services and Mountain rescue are great and well worth getting in touch with. (Their business cards which grant unlimited free coffee at some services)

  • @docalex007 Please drop me an email at will.copestake@hotmail.co.uk I am able to provide you with as much advice and tips as I can hopefully to your own benefit.

  • Very well done video! You are crazy to be sleeping on that cold ground with just a thermarest zlite. 3:18 trenchfoot? I just go barefoot with lots of baby powder to avoid the wet sock syndrome.

  • is that This Will Destroy You?
