The 1935 film "Sweet Music" was a star vehicle for Rudy Vallee, who performed the Harry Warren-Al Dubin title song on screen. Ann Dvorak and Helen Morgan also appeared.

78rpm: Decca 350 - Sweet Music (Warren-Dubin) by Victor Young & His Orchestra, with unidentified vocal. Recorded 1/10/35.

  • This is probably in my top five list of songs of the 1930's. That time period was about 20 years before my time, but I am huge fan of Warner Brother's cartoons, which is where I first heard this gem. What a beautiful piece of music. It has such a wonderful bittersweet feeling, which I love. Thanks so very much for the post ! ! ! Best wishes. ! ! !

  • Young's regular singer at the time was Hal Burke, but this doesn't sound like him at all (Hal had some accent problems).
