Belle Vue funfair Lol. I remember my good schoolmate used to nick £10 from his dads wallet and we would skive off school and go and enjoy ourselves for the day. Memories aaaaahhh.

What a great shame these disappear an as you say, MancunianJoe339, once they've gone, they've gone. Sadly I never knew the Belle Vue funfair, although I worked just around the corner from Belle Vue for over 5 years and now live in Manchester. Shame it wasn't here then or I'd have filmed it whilst I had the chance. Oh well.

Happy memories, in the early 70's we used to Peg off school, catch the 53 bus down to Belle Vue and spend the day in there, then when we had spent all of our cash we would venture into the reptile house, where they kept crocodilesand being young and daft we would jump over the barrier and collect any small change that people had thrown into the water, Happy Days.

brings back memories of the 70's and 80's Saturday night at the Speedway then free entry into the fair. Why was it allowed to die?????????

i lived in miles platting and we used to go on our bikes to belle vue and try and sneak in. one good way was for one of us to pretend to fall off the bike right in front of the main gates. more than often the guard would come out allowing the rest of us to sneak in.
-
then after dusting himself off the bike rider would go away around the corner were we used to throw a large knoted bed sheet over the wall for him to climb up. no one stole bikes back then so we just had a lot of free go's on the rides and rode back home. our dad would beat and kick us too when he was drunk. ahh - memories !!!

Hi Mancunian Joe. I used to live just round the corner from Belle Vue. I lived on Clyde street West Gorton. My Mum and Dad used to take me every Sunday. My Dad was a friend of the 'Elephant Man' was a friend of my Dad and they used to go for a drink in the 'White Bear' on Clowes Street not far from our house. My Dad was friendly with Gerald Isles, (that may not be the way you spell Isles) My Dad worked on the railway and used to have many a long chat with the train driver on the little railway
Hello, Mancunian Joe. Nice and brief but to the point. By the way Jetstream was billed at Belle Vue as the great successor to Bobs ! No chance, no comparison. Like comparing a kiddy's kite to the Eurofighter Typhoon ! Nuff said, Thanks again Joe, from George.
