J.M. Aguilera* (*Jaguares, La Barranca) by Leonardo Bondani "Going to the Cinema by Myself"

This is the song that gives name to Jose Manuel Aguilera's first solo album "Going to Cinema by Myself" (Yendo al Cine Solo), a mutimedia project: Album & Concert-Tour homage to Cinema.

Leonardo Bondani (who had previously worked with Molotov, Jaguares, Maldita Vecindad doing visuals for their massive concerts) was commisioned to do a videopiece for each song, dedicated to different Film Genres.

This Piece is an homage to Betty Page's Films, where Leonardo Bondani and JMA worked together in the image selection and treatment from exerpts of vintage 16mm original betty Page's films.

"Yendo al Cine Solo" (Going to the Cinema by Myself) is also the name for the entire multimedia Concert-Tour with live giant videoprojections that were played while the band performed the entire album as a whole dedicated to Cinema and Various Film Generes.

José Manuel Aguilera, who previously and concurrently worked with Sangre Azteka, Jaguares, Cecilia Toussaint, Steven Brown/Nine Rain (Tuxedomoon), and more. He has an unusual style of playing that concentrates on great rhythms, superb tone, and very melodic solos. After the original lineup--Agulera, Federico Fong (bass), Alfonso Andre (drums), all of whom were guest members of Jaguares with former Caifanes frontman Saul Hernandez--went its separate ways, a second version of the band included Santa Sabina guitar virtuoso Alex Otaola and the extremely flexible rhythm section of brothers Jose María ("Chema") and Alonso Arreola. The band's sound effortlessly moves from flat out rock to fusion-ish jamming and passes through a kind of Mexican folk influence along the way. Aguilera is a good singer with a talent for finding simple melodies amidst rather complex songs.
