@unett : In addition to flying away through open windows and doors, companion birds can also break their tiny little necks flying into closed doors and windows, ceiling fans, etc. If you're going to keep a companion parrot, it's cruel not to clip its wings.
Just this weekend, I read an ad in our local paper from someone whose bird flew away two weeks ago. Here in Idaho, it still gets cold at night in May, so the bird might not even be alive. Wouldn't have happened with clipped wings. Sad.

my parrot saved my life!!! my mom and dad were arguing with each other and my dad said go fuck your self and our parrot said shut up mother fucker and they were cracking up and they got back together!

Old parrots get ruffled feathers... its just the way it goes. Having a parrots wings clipped is a really good way to stop them flying in to tree's when you take them outside...
