This clip shows some of the celebrations immediately following the announcement of the NDC's victory in the 2008 Presidential Elections in Ghana in January 2009. The clip shows scenes from the balcony of my friend's apartment in the Sakumono district just minutes after the announcement, and later, cheering NDC supporters celebrating in the streets.

  • Oh, it was drawn out - NPP were not giving up without a fight, and for several days people were thinking "just concede already !"......

I am an Obroni, but when asked, I told I would have gone NPP with my vote if I were exercising my franchise, but even I thought Akufo-Addo's team were delusional.....they were never going to win out of the Tain constituency at the end, even if they got 100% of the vote it was not enough to get past the post !

The celebrations were cool, though !

  • I can see people had a lot of fun. That's what democracy is all about. One party comes on and when they lose they move along for the next to come. No need to be chopping off limbs like Kenya or the other places. This puts Ghana very much ahead than the rest of the countries on the continent.
