It's now been five days since Rush Limbaugh incited a national uproar with a multi-day barrage of poisonous and sexually hostile invective against Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student who recently testified before Congress on the importance of mandated contraception coverage in health insurance. Approximately 40 advertisers have now abandoned the right-wing radio host, forcing him to offer a begrudging apology which — while it does offer contrition for the "insulting word choices" — maintains the earlier tirade's underlying theme that Fluke is seeking to mooch off the American taxpayers.
ThinkProgress has reviewed the footage from the first three days between Limbaugh's initial attack and his apology, and counted no less than seventy insults and smears which Limbaugh hurled at Fluke. Below is the material that brought Limbaugh to his current impasse, and for which Republican leaders and the GOP candidates for president have criticized him in only the most tepid of terms — assuming they criticize him at all. Viewers can judge for themselves if the apology, and the Republicans' response, is adequate to Limbaugh's offense.

the reason why he highlights the fact that women should be the ones who suffer the "consequences" & "responsibilities" of sex baffles me...

Wow, child. What does this mean, "henceforth taxpayers should once again pick up the check"? Wow, can you read? The poster thinks that she advocated taxpayer funded birth control, which she DID NOT.
If you're PAYING for your own insurance and think your medications should be covered, how exactly does that warrant these 70 smears? Lies are wrong, dude. I don't care what she believes. You don't have to lie, and that's what Rush did. :)

Maybe he thinks BC pills are like his Viagra (or like the Viagra he takes from other people, that is) and that's what causes his confusion.

I am agog. He has no idea what he's talking about! He has no idea what birth control pills are! And that last comment! I just want to shoot myself in the face. Is this really how some people think, or is he giving a bad name to the whole republican community?

Is he so uneducated about how birth control pills work that he actually thinks you need to take a birth control pill for every time you need to have sex? No... as usual, he avoids the facts and just debases women.

Rush Limbaugh is America's Biggest Laughing Stock, after Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.

He clearly has no idea how the birth control pill works if he thinks a woman needs to take more the more sex she has.

The gasbag sure likes skating near the edge. So much of his commentary can so easily be turned on him but his ditto-heads are so enamored with him that they don't even recognize it. After all, who is Limbaugh to be talking about "irresponsible sex" and/or abuse of medications? The great irony here is that he himself likes to diddle little boys in Costa Rica (aided by Viagra obtained in someone else's name...and he's an active oxycodone addict supplied with the aid of his housekeeper.

His argument is not about money... if it was, he'd have done at least enough research to know that how much you pay for the pill has ZERO connection to how much sex you have (research - hell, don't most adults know that?). His entire rant is actually about debasing women. In his mind, women should be punished for having control of their sex life - and he's more than happy to hand out that punishment by trying to publicly embarrass them. DISGRACEFUL.
